Pallet Shelter Project
Galatians Homeless Initiative, Inc. is planning to partner with Pallet® to rapidly build interim shelters, creating a safe community space for those in need. This space will also be an on-site community center to help connect residents with additional services and give them a base for any needed assistance. This project will enable us to fulfill everything we have set our hearts and our organization to do. Providing shelter is our top priority in our initiative to help get people off the streets and into housing. They will receive food, clothing, and additional supportive services during their stay. That includes non-formal education in banking, home ownership, credit building/repair, job training, etc. Residents can stay within our communities for up to eight years.
Boots on The Ground Project
Serving with Compassion. Restoring Hope. Changing Lives. At Galatians Homeless Ministry (GHI), our Boots on the Ground Project is more than an outreach, it’s a movement of compassion and action. This initiative brings direct support to individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout Washington, DC, meeting both physical and emotional needs right where they are. Be the Boots on the Ground. Together, we can make a difference, one meal, one conversation at a time.
Mobile Hygiene
We're bringing hygiene to the streets of DC. This project is a part of our interim services to help provide much-needed essentials while awaiting permanent housing. This initiative involves a specially equipped trailer that will travel to different city locations to offer free showers, toiletries, and clean clothes to those in need. These services will help the homeless maintain their physical health and dignity and provide a moment of relief and positivity in their otherwise difficult lives.
Community Events
GHI is dedicated to fostering partnerships that uplift the community, and support individuals and families experiencing or recovering from homelessness. This December, we returned to The Ethel, a permanent housing facility in Washington, DC to celebrate Christmas with their residents. Together, we made a beautiful impact and spread joy to the many residents transitioning from homelessness.
This year, we also collaborated with Collaborative Solutions for Communities and WhiteSpace to ensure local students had the supplies they needed to start the year with confidence. Together, we collected and delivered over 70 backpacks filled with essential school supplies, directly supporting families in need across our community. GHI is deeply grateful for the generosity, teamwork, and dedication that made this effort possible.
